  • Lauren Atkins presenting innovative ways to manage cancer side effects
Agenda:
Dietary patterns: A novel approach to managing malnutrition?

Join Accredited Practising Dietitian, Dr Annie Curtis as she explores the role of dietary patterns in managing malnutrition within the clinical oncology setting. This session will delve into various dietary approaches that can help improve patient outcomes and highlight dietitian’s practices and perspectives on using dietary patterns in their clinical work. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the potential roles that specific dietary interventions can play in managing malnutrition, as well as insights into the practical application of these strategies in a healthcare setting.

Dr Annie Curtis is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and early career researcher with over 5 years of experience in clinical oncology nutrition research and cancer epidemiology. Annie’s research focuses on dietary patterns and their role in managing malnutrition, low muscle mass, and sarcopenia. Annie is dedicated to improving the morbidity and mortality outcomes of individuals living with cancer through targeted nutritional interventions and evidence-based practice.

Taste & smell changes during cancer treatment

In this presentation, senior oncology dietitian, Naomi Lawrance, will dive into how cancer and its treatments can alter taste and smell, affecting patients’ experiences with food. This session will explore the reasons behind these changes, their impact on patients’ nutrition, and how long they may last. Gain insights into managing these sensory changes to help improve the nutritional care and quality of life for oncology patients.

Naomi Lawrance is an Accredited Practising Dietitian at OnCore Nutrition. She has 10 years experience working in oncology at Peter Mac and privately.
