About the Lunch & Learn:
Does gut directed hypnotherapy (GDH) really work for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptom management? Join Dr. Simone Peters in this upcoming Lunch & Learn to unpack the latest research behind this innovative treatment and understand how GDH effectively addresses the brain-gut connection to improve patient outcomes. The session will explore the principles and practical considerations of GDH, including how dietitians can use accessible digital therapeutics, like Nerva, with their patients and clients.
About the sponsor:
Nerva is a digital gut-directed hypnotherapy (GDH) program for IBS management co-created by Mindset Health and Dr. Simone Peters, building on her pioneering research at Monash University. Nerva teaches your clients about the IBS stress-symptom cycle and managing miscommunications along the gut-brain axis. Accessible via a mobile app, the program guides clients through six weeks of hypnotherapy, psychoeducation, and relaxation exercises in just 15 minutes per day. When you register for the Lunch & Learn, you’re eligible to receive 3 free Nerva subscriptions to share with your clients – express your interest here.
About the speaker:
Dr Simone Peters is a psychophysiologist who combines private practice at the Mind+Gut Clinic with a research appointment with the Gastroenterology Department at The Alfred Hospital, Monash University. She is the co-creator of the Nerva program for IBS. Dr. Peters has a keen interest in the role of brain-gut therapies in patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders. She was the first academic to examine the efficacy of gut-directed hypnotherapy as a treatment for IBS in Australia and her data has shown it to be of equal efficacy to that of the low FODMAP diet.
