Malnutrition is a major cause and consequence of poor health, but it can be treated with early identification and intervention. In this webinar with Professor Carol Wham, you’ll learn about nutrition screening tools and the factors contributing to increased risk of malnutrition in community, hospital and residential aged care settings. Carol will help you to identify culturally appropriate strategies to best support the needs of older adults and deliver real benefits.

 

 

About the speaker:

Carol Wham, NZRD, PhD, is a professor of Public Health Nutrition at Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand. She has undertaken a sustained programme of research focused on improving the nutritional health of older people. Carol has been an investigator in two longitudinal studies of ageing; Life and Living to Advanced age: a Cohort Study in New Zealand and within the New Zealand Health, Work and Retirement Study. She has examined malnutrition across community, hospital and residential care settings and leads the ENRICH study which seeks to Evaluate Nutrition Risk and Intervene to enCourage Healthy eating. Carol contributes to an expert panel to develop an Australian and New Zealand guideline for the identification and management of malnutrition and frailty in the community.
