About the webinar:
Growing interest in the gut–brain axis has positioned probiotics and fermented foods as promising tools in mental health care. But what does the evidence actually show, and how should this translate into practice? Join A/Prof Wolfgang Marx to unpack what we currently know, what remains uncertain and where common misconceptions arise.
You’ll learn how to:
- Differentiate between probiotic supplements and fermented food interventions in practice
- Understand strain specificity, dosing considerations and fermented food diversity
- Have confident conversations with clients about gut health and mental wellbeing
- Translate emerging evidence into clear, evidence-informed dietetic strategies
About the speaker:

Associate Professor Wolfgang Marx is Deputy Director of Deakin University’s Food & Mood Centre and an NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellow. He is President of the International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research and serves on international guideline taskforces, including WFSBP and CANMAT. His work focuses on translating evidence on diet, probiotics, and other lifestyle and nutraceutical approaches into practical, scalable strategies that can be implemented in routine care to improve mental health outcomes.
