Gut Health Month Webinar Series: Partially hydrolysed guar gum and gut health: the latest evidence


About the webinar:

Emerging research is demonstrating the benefits of partially hydrolysed guar gum (PHGG) for a range of health outcomes, including gut health and as a prebiotic. PHGG exerts the nutritional function of a dietary fibre, while being very low viscosity in solution. This webinar, presented by Dr Jerry Zhou, will explore PHGG and its specific benefits for gut health.

 

About the speaker:

 

Dr Jerry Zhou is a lecturer in gastroenterology at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University and a clinical research fellow at the Gastrointestinal Motility Unit, Camden Hospital. His research covers multiple areas of gastrointestinal health including dietary interventions, medical devices, microbiome modulation, and regenerative therapy. In addition, he works closely with many consumer advocacy groups and having co-founded Gastroparesis Australia. It is this work with gastroparesis that had inspired his passion in low-viscosity fibres, such as partially hydrolysed guar gum, and their suitability for individuals’ gut motility disorders. His group recently demonstrated the short-term benefits of partially hydrolysed guar gum in individuals with gastroparesis, published in Nutrients, and is starting a trial on the long-term benefits to gut microbiota and metabolism.
