About the webinar:

Cancer and its treatment can result in significant gastrointestinal disturbances creating challenges for patients and clinicians and increasing the risk of malnutrition. Led by Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition, Valaree Williams, this webinar will explore the impact of cancer and cancer treatments on the GI tract from swallowing to digestion, absorption, and elimination. Learn the appropriate evidence- and practice-based nutrition interventions and strategies to mitigate disturbances and promote adequate nutrition in patients with cancer.

 

About the speaker:

Valaree Williams, MS, RDN, CSO, LDN, CNSC, FAND, became a registered dietitian nutritionist in 2006 and has focused many years of her work on the provision of nutrition care to patients with cancer. She is currently employed as a clinical dietitian at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Middletown, New Jersey. Valaree serves in volunteer roles for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetic Registration, and ASPEN, where she currently serves as the chair for CDR. Additionally, she has contributed to several oncology nutrition publications. 

 

 

 

 

About the host:

Ainsley Malone, MS, RDN, LD, CNSC, FAND, FASPEN, is currently a Clinical Practice Specialist with the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) where she works to support malnutrition efforts and other clinical practice activities for the organization. She recently retired as a Nutrition Support Dietitian in the Mt. Carmel Healthcare System in Columbus, Ohio where she was involved in the management of patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition. Ainsley is a global and national leader in malnutrition related activities having served as author of the 2012 Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/ASPEN Malnutrition Consensus Characteristics, currently serving as a member of the Global Leadership Initiative in Malnutrition Implementation working group, and in leading malnutrition advocacy efforts across the United States. In addition, Ainsley serves the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as Speaker of the House of Delegates and as a member of the Academy Board of Directors.
