How can dietitians help protect the health of future generations?
About the webinar:
The HealthyLife 2024 Living Healthy Report paints a bleak picture of the future health of today’s children. In fact, children born between 2023-2033 are expected to have a shorter life span than their parents due in particular to an unhealthy diet. The average household is not purchasing enough core foods to meet the Australian Dietary Guidelines and are purchasing excess discretionary foods, with screen time rising and physical activity declining. The good news is that a healthy food shop is actually cheaper than the current average purchased shop, so there is great potential, especially while the cost of living is a big concern, for dietitians to influence positive change on the wellbeing of Australians. In this webinar, Healthylife’s Chief Health Officer Simone Austin explores the key results from this year’s Living Healthy Report and offers practical insights for dietitians to use in their practice.
About the speaker:

Simone Austin is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Fellow of Sports Dietitians Australia. She has worked with some of Australia’s most successful sporting teams: Hawthorn AFL Football Club, Australian Cricket team, Melbourne Storm Rugby League and more. She is the author of the book ‘Eat like an athlete’ and is keen for everyone to use nutrition for their best performance like athletes do. Simone is passionate about creating environments that support health and has held roles that influence this, as the manager of the Advocacy and Policy team at Dietitians Australia, a Board Director and currently the Chief Health Officer at Healthylife and Chair of the Health Advisory Board, where she leads the annual publication of the Living Healthy Report. Simone has also influenced health with her work in the media and food and wellness businesses.
