This Gut Health Month, we’re bringing you the latest gut health science in our Gut Health Symposium to help you flourish as a leading dietitian in the gut health space. In the symposium, MC’d by Gut Health Month ambassador Nicole Dynan, you’ll hear from incredible speakers, including:
- Dr Tim Crowe, exploring the latest research on foods and dietary patterns that support a healthy gut
- Sandra Mikhail, presenting two real-life case studies on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
- Joanna Baker who will deep dive into the use of gut-directed hypnotherapy in IBS
- Michelle Theodosi, discussing the relationship between eating disorders and gut health
About the speakers:
Dr Tim Crowe is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian who has spent most of his career in the world of university nutrition teaching and research. He now works chiefly as a freelance health and medical writer, scientific consultant and science communicator. He has an active media profile and a large social media following through his Thinking Nutrition blog and podcast.
Sandra Mikhail is an internationally-known Accredited Practising Dietitian and the founder and director of Nutrition A-Z by Sandra Mikhail. She holds a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, a Master of Advanced Studies in Nutrition and Health and is a member of Dietitians Australia. She also holds a Sports Nutrition Diploma by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). With experience spanning well over a decade, Sandra’s main areas of specialty are digestive disease, sports nutrition, eating disorders and corporate health working with local and multinational brands. As a mental health advocate, her workshops and articles on stress and nutrition have gained popularity internationally where she was personally invited by Arianna Huffington to contribute to her global platform Thrive.
Joanna Baker is a dietitian and registered nurse who loves food. Her passion for digestive health stems from a lifelong battle with of her own with IBS and food intolerance. Joanna now runs a dietitian practice in Melbourne called Everyday Nutrition, where her team of specialist dietitians help people with digestive problems. In 2015, Joanna stepped away from the hospital setting and jumped headfirst into IBS and food intolerance with post graduate training in FODMAPs and food chemical sensitivity. Since then, she’s worked in FODMAP testing at FODMAP Friendly as well as with food manufacturers who provide low FODMAP products. She has also lectured on the low FODMAP diet and regularly contributes to several publications including FODMAPPER magazine.
Michelle Theodosi is an experienced Accredited Practising Dietitian, Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician and Founding Director of The Lifestyle Dietitian, a Sydney-based private practice. Michelle is one of a handful of dietitians in Australia with qualifications in both Dietetics and Psychology and is passionate about supporting individuals with a poor relationship with food and body, to change their mindset so that they can live happier, healthier lives. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys cooking, going out for a delicious meal, playing piano and taking her French bulldog for walks.
About the host:
Nicole Dynan is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, Accredited Sports Dietitian and the Founder and Director of The Good Nutrition Co. and The Gut Health Dietitian. Nicole was inspired to start the gut-health arm of her business after suffering allergies and food intolerances herself as a child and having the good fortune to complete her masters research project at the RPAH Allergy Unit in Sydney. When Nicole established the business nine years ago, she had a simple goal: To help people navigate the science to fix their gut issues and feel happy and healthy again. Nicole’s business has a team of twelve dietitians and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest telehealth nutrition providers, having consulted to over 30,000 individuals and hundreds of organisations.
