About the Lunch & Learn:
Formula selection is an important clinical decision that can affect a child’s quality of life and ability to thrive. For children with gastroparesis that are already facing limited nutrient intake, this decision is critical.
In this Lunch & Learn, Kate Samela, MS, RD, CSP, will dive into the science on enteral formulas and the outcomes that can support children with gastroparesis. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of the nutrients to keep in mind during formula selection, counseling strategies to guide formula decision-making, and the research to back it up.
After this session attendees will be able to:
- Describe how formula composition, including protein source, affects enteral tolerance in children with gastroparesis and can positively impact health outcomes
- Understand how to troubleshoot common GI intolerance symptoms and use enteral nutrition support strategies to address nutrition challenges in pediatric populations with gastroparesis
- Apply an evidence-based, patient-centered approach to selecting enteral feeding
