About the webinar:
Optimising nutrition in the ICU can significantly impact patient recovery, but how can dietitians best support oral intake in such a critical setting? This webinar will take you from evidence to implementation as clinical dietitians Alicia Wiese and Rebecca Baskett share strategies to improve oral intake across the ICU and acute care journey. Alicia will present findings from an observational study on the development and implementation of an oral nutrition support pathway designed to enhance energy and protein intake during and after ICU. Building on this, Rebecca will bring the research to life with practical strategies for using low-volume oral nutritional supplements in everyday practice, illustrated through real-world case studies that translate evidence into action.
About the speakers:

Alicia Wiese is a clinical dietitian with 16 years of experience, primarily in the intensive care unit. In January 2025, she began her doctoral studies at the University of Adelaide, focusing on enhancing protein intake and supporting the functional recovery of ICU survivors.

Rebecca Baskett is a New Zealand–trained dietitian with over 18 years of experience in clinical nutrition and dietetics. She has worked across a number of clinical care settings, including inpatient and outpatient services, in a range of specialties such as critical care, transplant, nutrition support (enteral and parenteral nutrition), acute surgical and gastroenterology, diabetes, and bariatrics & weight management.
