Gone are the days of “use olive oil sparingly” as the latest science suggests recommendations for healthy fats and oils needs to change. These recommendations consider the Dietary Guidelines and beyond such as key research, global policy guidelines and factors including sustainability and the well publicised 2019 Eat Lancet Report.
In this webinar, leading dietitian Dr Joanna McMillan will unpack the research so you can answer the question: how much healthy fats and oils should we be recommending to patients? Joanna will also share practical tips on how and what volume of Extra Virgin Olive Oil to include in the diet based on current evidence.
Upon completion of this module, dietitians will be able to:
- Understand the latest evidence into amounts of fats and oils to recommend to promote overall health
- Discuss current evidence on the amount of oil to include in the diet
- Provide practical recommendations to clients on how to incorporate recommended volumes of oils and fats into the diet

About the speaker:
Dr Joanna McMillan is one of the country’s favourite and most trusted health and nutrition experts. She is a PhD qualified nutrition scientist, Accredited Practising Dietitian, Adjunct Senior Research Fellow with La Trobe University and Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine. Joanna is an experienced TV presenter. She has worked on The Today Show for 15 years, been a host for ABC’s science show Catalyst, and is a regular on radio and in print media. She is a TEDx and international keynote speaker and MC and is the founder of Get Lean, an online lifestyle change program. She has authored seven books including Get Lean Stay Lean and her latest Brain Food.
