Interested in research but not sure where to start? Ben Desbrow has an extensive track record of conducting nutrition research which captures public and professional interest. Best known for his work on beer and coffee, his research outputs have been recently reported in publications such as Time online and The Wall Street Journal. Within this session he will summarise some of his latest research and use this to demonstrate the process and philosophy he employs to inform his decisions on future research directions.

Dr Ben Desbrow is the leader for the Nutrition Unit within the Research Centre for Health Practice Innovation, Griffith Health Institute and the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics Convenor at Griffith University. Ben’s research interests span applied, sports and clinical nutrition research with a particular focus on the effect of popular food-borne drugs (caffeine and alcohol) on human behaviour, health and performance. He endeavours to educate in a passionate way, inspiring students to explore new boundaries in science and have a positive impact on the health of the population through diet, nutrition and exercise.
