About the webinar:

Food-based dietary guidelines are typically developed with health promotion front of mind, but what about the health of the planet? In this webinar, Dr Gilly Hendrie will dive into how sustainability is addressed in food-based dietary guidelines across the globe. Gilly will also explore new modelling research on the EAT-Lancet Planetary Health Diet within the context of Australian dietary patterns, and compare this to the Australian Dietary Guidelines.  The trade-offs between food, health and the environment that should be considered when promoting sustainable eating habits will also be highlighted, as Gilly provides her insights into what dietitians can do to help their clients eat a healthier, more sustainable diet.

About the speaker:

Dr Gilly Hendrie is a Research Scientist within the CSIRO Human Health Program. Her research is focussed on understanding dietary intake patterns and developing novel ways to improve our food choices to address key challenges like obesity and environmental sustainability. Gilly has designed many technology based interventions to change, support, and monitor dietary behaviour change for health. For example, the CSIRO Healthy Diet Score Survey has been completed by over 230,000 Australians; and she currently leads the scientific evolution of the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet Online.
