HealthShare NSW’s Clinical Governance team are looking for a Patient Safety Coordinator to communicate and deliver on patient safety and clinical quality matters.
We are seeking a strong advocate for patient safety with a passion for nurturing a patient safety culture and a person-centred approach within our organisation. You will need relevant experience/qualifications in patient safety and clinical quality improvement, preferably within a large service environment.
Experience in patient safety programs, clinical risk identification, clinical incident management, improvement methodologies and system thinking are desirable.

About the opportunity
The Patient Safety Coordinator’s accountabilities include:
  • Support and educate the business on the Clinical Governance Framework
  • Support Clinical Incident Management Systems by ensuring systems are in place to detect clinical hazards, near misses and incidents
  • Liaise with Local Health Districts where shared risk for clinical and patient outcomes is identified
  • Assist in the development and rollout of a patient safety dashboard

This is a Full Time Permanent position graded as a Health Manager Level 2 with an annual salary of $100,107.00 to $118,735.00 (Excl. 10% superannuation). Location, St Leonards.

How to apply

During the application process, you will be required to attach your resume and provide answers to the Targeted Questions below. You must ensure your answers make reference to all of the Essential Requirements listed in the Position Description prior to submitting your application.
  • Outline your experience in patient safety and clinical quality improvement in an operational environment. In your answer, include a key achievement and provide context to how this contribution added value to your organisation and improved patient safety.
  • Provide an example of a time you coached a stakeholder on a patient safety initiative you were involved in. What was the initiative, and describe how you coached the stakeholder/s to a successful outcome?
You will be asked to complete a psychometric assessment (e.g. personality and cognitive abilities assessments) in the recruitment process for this position.

Vaccination Requirements
This is a NSW Health Category B position.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.
