This 3-Day course is designed for health professionals who have already completed the Eating Disorder Essentials and the A Comprehensive Non-Diet Approach for Clients with Weight Concerns (also known as Psychological Approaches to Obesity) courses.
However, we will also accept health professionals who are experienced eating disorder practitioners.
This 3-day course starts with a short recap of the essential knowledge and treatment models introduced in our other courses (Eating Disorder Essentials and A Comprehensive Non-Diet Approach for Clients with Weight Concerns).
We then add two additional dimensions to your knowledge as we look at the nutritional aspects, biochemical and neurotransmitter imbalances, potentially hindering client recovery. Understanding what these factors are and how they occur can help you treat clients more effectively.
This is also a chance to expand on the treatment interventions for adults with anorexia nervosa using some exercises and concepts from the Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA) which are not covered in the Eating Disorder Essentials course.
We then concentrate purely on practice as we move through a series of case studies, role plays, group and pairs exercises.
This course consolidates your knowledge and gives you more practical skills in how to deal with barriers, the cognitive limitations of under-eating clients, mindset interventions and treatment planning.
