The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is hosting their annual update day on Friday 8th November, 2019 from 8am-4.30pm.
This year the focus will be at both ends of the paediatric spectrum as the day is split into two key learning areas:
Part 1 (morning): The first 2000 days of life
Part 2 (afternoon): Adolescents

Part 1 (morning): The first 2000 days
The first half of the day will focus on the first 2000 days of life. Presenters will work through normal development from the multidisciplinary perspective while highlighting potential areas where abnormalities may impact on nutrition in the acute and chronic setting. Throughout the morning you will hear from a number of experienced medical and allied health professionals before breaking into small groups to work through dietetic focused workshops. The interactive workshops will include a mix of presentations and case studies, facilitated by dietitians from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Part 2 (afternoon): Adolescents
Throughout the second half of the day you will return to the Lorimer Dods Lecture Theatre to explore the complexities of working with adolescents. The adolescent medical team will combine a series of presentations with an interactive case study to highlight developmental, medical, social and nutrition considerations for this population group. The session will conclude with a dynamic panel discussion providing opportunities for audience participation.

Target audience:
The day will have a strong nutrition/dietetics focus but is relevant for all allied health, nursing and medical professionals working across all levels and areas of healthcare.
