Imagine if you had an entire day to yourself, with nothing to do. No car trips, nothing booked, no emails or calls to return, no family members hassling you – a day to do absolute nothing. Almost unheard of in modern times, the traditional Sunday of church, a family meal and nothing else are long gone and many of us start Monday morning feeling as if we had no weekend at all. A recent study published in US Women’s Health found that a staggering of women felt completely recharged and refreshed after being given just one day in which to do whatever they wished with.
So, even if you can only manage it once a month, try and set aside a day in which you have no plans. Even if you have a family, a day spent at home with no other commitments is a great way to reunite and remind ourselves of the simple pleasures we often do not even have to leave the house for.
